Within the framework of the commemoration of the international women’s day, the high presidential Councilor for gender equity, Nigeria Renteria Lozano; the Vice-President of the Republic, Angelino Garzón; the Director of the presidential programme of human rights and IHL, Alma Bibiana Pérez and the Deputy Attorney General of Nation, Jorge Fernando Perdomo; participated in the presentation of the interinstitutional strategy of combat the impunity and comprehensive care to victims of violence based on gender, about the armed conflict, in particular, victims of sexual violence.
The Deputy Prosecutor referred to that in the Prosecutor’s Office has been incorporated the gender and cross-sectoral perspective approach in the analysis of all cases arising in the entity. In addition, he said that the fundamental role of the accusing entity in this strategy is based on mechanisms that are implemented, from national, regional and territorial level for documentation, collection of allegations and opening formal investigations.
He also indicated that in the investigation and prosecution component is becoming a strategic direction of cases in two ways, on the one hand the understanding of prosecutors from the criminal phenomenon from the perspective of gender and differential, and another part with modern research techniques.
The Durango reported that to the inside of the General Prosecutor’s Office was created in the office of the Prosecutor, a team of gender that leads the institutional policy on this matter and a group of violence based on gender in the unit of analysis and contexts. Moreover, unveiled the work that advance units of the institution in what has to do with the sexual violence against women.
This initiative, which was presented at the facilities of the Hotel Opera in Bogotá, seeks to strengthen the institutional coordination to improve the response on the guarantee of the right of access to justice and the implementation of prevention, care, and repair.
