For the collapse of the 6 Tower of the Space complex in Medellin, occurred on October 12, 2013, the Deputy Attorney General of Nation, Jorge Fernando Perdomo Torres, said that research advances very quickly after the establishment of the special task force.
The senior official was emphatic in saying that “there are 12 people who lost their lives, some people injured, so here we should get some results in criminal matters because there is a culpable or malicious homicide for which someone has to respond”.
In this regard said that in this case have been called to questioning five people, including the legal representative of the company, some engineers and curators, and have been practiced expert opinions in order to determine what were the causes of the collapse of the Tower, “because once these causes certain we know who was responsible or who were responsible for the deaths and injuries that there arose”.
The first hypothesis that has the Prosecutor’s Office is that it is a culpable homicide, however will have to analyze each case in particular, because depending on the information that we collect from different interviews that we conducted, eventually can be configured also the crime of intentional homicide but in principle the research hypothesis of the Prosecutor’s Office is that it is a culpable homicide,” said Perdomo.
He also referred to the delay of the building implosion and recognized that the prosecution requested the delay of three days to finish collecting samples of the concrete pad to know precisely what material it was made and what were the characteristics of the materials.
Finally, he stressed that in the investigation developing it found that there were irregularities in various stages of the process, both in the planning stage, as in the implementation phase and project construction. “So now we have to devote to establish which of these causes was the one that generated the crash and also determine who it is that is called to answer criminally,” concluded the deputy prosecutor.
