Jesús Alberto Martínez Durán, who is being investigated within the judicial procedure for the death of the university student Luis Andrés Colmenares, was accused by the 5° Prosecutor of the “Special Group against False Witnesses” before 49 Circuit Criminal Judge in Bogota, acting as presiding judge.

In public hearing, the Prosecutor in the case affirmed that Martinez Duran’s behavior led the Office of the Attorney-General of Colombia into error. The defendant, through his unrealistic testimonies, caused weariness to the justice, confirmed the prosecutor.

In addition, he said that his words and assertions led to a distortion of the facts because he involved people who had nothing to do with the facts. It was proved that his testimonies were inconsistent.

Moreover, due to Martinez Duran’s actions, he was entered in a special witness protection program at a high cost to the public funds.

In hearing, Prosecutor in the case will present 36 witnesses for the preparatory hearing, among them, the 4° Prosecutor delegated to the Supreme Court of Justice and 25 items as documentary evidence.
