The First Criminal Court of the Circuit of Cali (Valle del Cauca) sentenced  Marta Aurelia Cortés Buendia to a penalty of 25 years and six months in prison for the offense of aggravated murder, manufacturing, trafficking and carrying arms and ammunition, aggravated theft.

On February 12nd, 2011 Cortes, alias “La Ojona”, led a band of “fleteros” * that caused the death of the Prosecutor Elver Arango Correa when they stole the money he had withdrawn from a cash dispenser.

“La Ojona” was the person in charge of  informing Deiby Jhoan Mendoza Fory, murderer of the victim, the amount of money the victim withdrew and his physical description, so that, the murdered could follow the victim and kill him at a friend’s house.

The woman was sent to Villahermosa prison in Cali.

* Fletero: Colombian term used for a criminal who coordinates with other people some actions in order to steal money from a person who withdraws money from the bank.
