The General Prosecutor’s Office legalized the arrest and brought charges against the non-commissioned officer of the national army, Alejandro Antonio Medina Sanchez, before the fifth Criminal Court of Popayán, with functions of supervising judge, for the alleged offense of aggravated extortion attempt.

Through investigative labors, it could be determined that Medina Sánchez was allegedly contacted by some people in order to kill the victim. He knew the victim through internet.

After having gained the confidence of the victim, the officer changed his mind and decided to confess the plans. He told the victim he had to show evidence of his death, and for that reason, he made the assembly of the crime. Then he gave the victim until the next day to leave the city, but before that, he would have asked him for 500 thousand pesos.
