Agustín Hortúa Rodríguez, former treasurer in Villavicencio city, Meta Department, was convicted by The Third Criminal Court of the Circuit of Villavicencio (Meta) for the commission of the offenses of embezzlement and forgery in a public and private document.

In the decision, the judge also sentenced for the same offences, José Marceliano Garavito Barrantes, former mayor of the municipality of Castilla La Nueva (Meta), and also sentenced for embezzlement, Gabriel Fernando Hurtado Orozco who was the commission financial trust and intermediary agent.

The decision was based on the irregular deposit of 2,000 billion from oil royalties which are property of the city of Villavicencio and should be invested initially in trust assets, but those were deposited in bank accounts in Castilla La Nueva town in order to meet a debt.

Hortua was sent to prison in the capital of Meta. In the same decision, the judge acquitted José Arnulfo Perdomo Góngora, former Mayor of Castilla La Nueva, who had been bound to the legal proceeding. Next April 15, it will be pronounced the term of the penalty.
