Taking into account the statement of a Prosecutor assigned to the National Anti-corruption Unit, the 45 Circuit Criminal Judge in charge of streamlining backlogged cases in Bogotá has convicted the former Director of the Urban Development Institute (in Spanish: IDU), Andrés Camargo of culpable embezzlement and improper conclusion of contracts to 85 months in prison.
The sentence is pronounced in ongoing prosecution for irregularities in the execution of contracts for Transmilenio phase II, respecting the slabs of the northern highway.
Also, the Presiding Judge has passed similar sentence on María Elvira Bolaño and Óscar Hernando Solórzano, in his capacity as advisers to the IDU. These people have been sentenced to 85 months in prison, each one, as responsible for the crimes of culpable embezzlement and improper conclusion of contracts.
Likewise, the 45 Court convicted builder Alberto Otoya and the work inspector Álvaro Silva Fajardo for the crime of culpable embezzlement to 10 months and 15 days without release benefit.
After pronounce final conviction, the judge ordered the immediate arrest of the defendants.
Against the decision of the Court 45 is applicable the right of appeal.
