The Colombia Attorney General, Eduardo Montealegre Lynett, has received a document from The Sectional Prosecutor 11 assigned to the Unit of Life, Antonio Luis González, in which he requested that the prosecution for Luis Andrés Colmenares death, under his responsibility, be reassigned to another Prosecutor, arguing personal reasons and lack of security for himself and his family.
Today, the Office of the Colombia Attorney General ordered to immediately reassign the Colmenares prosecution carried out by 11 Sectional Prosecutor’s Office in the Unit of Life, transferring to the 4th Delegated Prosecutor before Supreme Court of Justice, Mrs. Martha Lucía Zamora.
With regard to the situation of the Prosecutor Antonio Luis González’s security, the Attorney General’s Victims and Witnesses Protection Programme is allowed to report:
1. Security measures requested by Prosecutor 11, Antonio Luis Gonzalez, were implemented from June 14, 2012.
2. The Prosecutor Antonio Luis Gonzalez has, in his security scheme, an armored vehicle level III and three escorts from the Protection Programme who accompany him on all his displacements.
3. Taking into account that the Prosecutor Antonio Luis González is a professor at Cartagena and Barranquilla universities, the Office of Protection also supports him providing protection in those cities with officials from the Programme.
