Evidences collected by Prosecutor’s Office have allowed 11 Circuit Penal Judge in Cali (Valle del Cauca), acting as Presiding Judge, to sentence the lawyer Carlos Gabriel Ortiz Quiñonez to 114 months´ imprisonment who was responsible for defraud the Colombian Pension Fund “ISS”.
During an oral trial, the Prosecutor’s Office has proved that Quiñonez Ortiz impersonated an individual who never paid contributions to “ISS” or contracted with said lawyer for services. However, the pension request was submitted, was processed and was retroactively granted, and several monthly allowances were paid, altogether 65 million Colombian pesos.
The Prosecutor in charge of the case attached to the Unit for Offences against Public Administration in this city, supported by Judicial Police, find out that Ortiz Quiñónez was part of an investigated group of individuals, lawyers and former officials of “ISS” for pensions fraud above 1.8 billion Colombian pesos.
At the hearing, the Prosecutor said that Quiñonez Ortiz is responsible for the offenses of embezzlement, procedural fraud, use of forged official document and forgery in private document. He has been also sentenced to a fine of $51.383.270, 25 and no benefits have been granted.
Quiñonez Ortiz will served 114 months in Villahermosa prison in Cali. Three others individuals are sentenced in this process.
