In the course of an investigation advanced during six months by prosecutors assigned to the National Unit fighting against Drug Trafficking and Maritime Interdiction UNAIM, the Metropolitan Police in Cartagena (Bolivar) has arrested in this city and in Barranquilla 18 alleged members “Los Rastrojos” gang.
Among the arrests, authorities have reported the arrest of alias “Pechuga” (Breast), alleged leader of this criminal gang in Cali and the capital of the Bolivar Department.
Preliminary hearings concerning arrest legalization, accusation and the request of a detention order will be held in next hours before a Supervisory Judge in Cartagena City.
The suspect will be accused by the Special Prosecutor in charge of the case for his possible responsibility for the offences of aggravated criminal association, aggravated homicide, illegal possession of firearms, extort and drug trafficking.
Detainees are investigated by the murder of Julián Martínez Díaz, Electricaribe employee; Daniel Castro Pereira, cousin of a Member of the Chamber; William de Jesús Otálvaro, for an extort debt; and Jorge Iván Rodríguez.
