Urban terrorists would have received over a billion Colombian Pesos for the attack against former Home Secretary, Mr. Fernando Londoño Hoyos, last May 15, in the north of Bogotá, reported Mr. Eduardo Montealegre Lynett, the Colombia Attorney General.
This affirmation was made by the senior official referring to the operation carried out between The Attorney General Office and The National Police which five individuals were arrested, including a minor who precisely was in charge to adhere the “lapa” bomb on an armored motor vehicle where Mr. Londoño Hoyos went in.
The investigation carried out by means of evidences and analysis made by The Attorney General Office – CTI and National Police Investigators allowed to reach to the present results, since these five individuals, until now, have not expressed their intentions to cooperate with the authorities providing information about the activities of their groups.
Mr. Montealegre Lynett explained that the first hypothesis, handled by the accusing body, pointed out to members of the mobile group “Teofilo Forero” from Farc as intellectual responsible of the attack against Mr. Londoño Hoyos where his driver and his bodyguard died, and 48 persons were wounded as well.
Subversives would have come in contact with two “urban terrorist” gangs from Cali and Bogotá to carry out the attack. The Cali group traveled to the capital of the country, on April 22nd and was supported by his associates in Bogotá, as regard to accommodation, transportation and logistics, while Mr. Londoño was followed by these last individuals in order to attack him.
Facts that allow focusing the investigation achieved by the Attorney General Office against Farc are based on the Modus Operandi traditionally used by Guerrilla with “lapa” bombs, the failed attempt against Mr. Londoño years ago and the constant threats to him from the guerrilla leadership, and the use of criminal gangs to carry out attacks in the name of insurgency. “They used urban terrorists who are not Farc members. They are individuals outside of the organization”, emphasized Mr. Montealegre Lynett.
Likewise, The Attorney General expressed that the arrest of the minor it was made official in the facility where he is detained for illegal possession of firearms. That person will appear before a juvenile court.
