After admit an Attorney General Office petition, the 2 Penal Circuit Judge in Santa Marta – Magdalena, acting as Presiding Judge, sentenced to 37 years in prison to the nurse Eileen María Reyes Santiago, as responsible for aggravated homicide of a newborn baby.

Facts, purpose of the investigation, happened on October 13, 2010, when the nurse arrived to the Women Clinic in Santa Marta city and after obtained information about the place where the son of Olga Palmas Rivas was, the nurse Reyes Santiago went to intensive care unit and, using tricks, stole the baby from charge nurse.

When guards of the health facility were alerted to the child abduction, they pursued the woman and when she felt cornered, she hit the baby against the road surface, killing him.

During proceedings, the Attorney General Office distorted the supposed unpunishable of Reyes Santiago through forensic psychiatric tests. On January 2012, the 2 Penal Circuit Judge pronounced his conviction against to the defendant.
