Two university students were blamed by the Third Special Prosecutor’s Office before Fourth Penal Judge in Pereira, acting as supervisory judge, for the offence of manufacture, deal or possession of firearms or ammunition for exclusively use of the national army.

The defendants Jorge Andrés Idárraga Tobón and Juan Manuel Marín Ángel, 24 and 23 years old, accepted their responsibility in the facts happened on March 6, 2009, when they exploded the so-called “papas bombas” during their manufacture in a wooded area close from Technological University Campus in Pereira. In the facts, one of the individuals was seriously injured.

Idárraga Tobón and Marín Ángel, students of Chemical Engineering, were arrested by Sijin this last Wednesday in the capital of Risaralda Department and they were set free because the requirements were not met in order to impose a Preventive Detention Measure, although they continue to be linked in the trial.
