He was allegedly involved in the acts leading up to the crime and in facilitating the escape of the man who fired at the victims.

The Office of the Attorney General prosecuted Junior Omar Patiño Moncada, alias El Sobrino, for his alleged participation in an armed attack in which four people died and two were injured on August 1, 2025, in Cúcuta (Norte de Santander).

According to the investigation, a man got out of a taxi, shot a group of people that were at the Lineal park in Latino neighborhood, and then he fled. The defendant allegedly picked this person up nearby and transported him to a specific location, where another vehicle was waiting for him.

The evidence collected by the homicide brigade, made up the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI) and the Sijin of the Metropolitan Police of Cúcuta, indicates that Patiño Moncada may also have been involved in the planning and logistics of the crime.

For these acts, a specialized prosecutor of the branch office in Norte de Santander (Seccional Norte de Santander) brought him before a judge and charged him with homicide, attempted homicide; and manufacture, trafficking, possession of firearms, accessories, parts, or ammunition.

The defendant did not plead guilty to the charges and must serve a prison sentence.

This is the third person prosecuted in connection with the crime. In November 2025, Felipe Molina Pérez, alias Mechas; and Óscar Fernando Barbosa Ríos, alias Nando or El Taxista, were formally linked to the investigation and placed under preventive detention.
