At the request of the Office of the Attorney General, judges imposed prison sentences on two men who, in separate incidents, attacked the former sentimental partner and wife, respectively, in Casanare.
Prosecutors appointed to the branch office in Casanare (Seccional Casanare) charged them, according to their individual responsibility, with domestic violence, one of those charges was aggravated. None of the defendants pleaded guilty to the charges.
In the first case, the alleged aggressor was caught in fragante in Yopal (Casanare), when officers of the National Police were passing by the victim’s residence and noticed the aggression and threats committed by the defendant against his former partner with a bladed weapon. During a fight, the woman was injured in one of her hands.
The other case occurred in La Floresta neighborhood in Monterrey (Casanare). Officers were alerted by radio about an attack against a woman. When they arrived at the scene, the victim was sitting outside her home with clear signs of physical and psychological abuse; apparently, her husband had attacked her. The man was caught in fragante.
