The Attorney General’s Office prosecuted Ramón Emiro Santana Sánchez, alias Miro, an alleged ELN member involved in the kidnapping of an employee in February 2025, in the metropolitan area of Cúcuta (Norte de Santander).
In this regard, he was charged with aggravated kidnapping for ransom and criminal conspiracy. The defendant did not plead guilty to the charges and must serve a prison sentence.
According to the investigation, the victim was approached in a public street by armed men who took him to Venezuelan territory, where he was illegally retained. He was later released under threat he must leave his home and family.
Judicial police investigations identified alias Miro as one of the alleged perpetrators of the kidnapping and member of the Reinaldo Ardila Gómez Urban Front of the ELN.
This front of the illegal armed group was allegedly carrying out various criminal activities in the border area between Cúcuta, Puerto Santander, and Villa del Rosario (Norte de Santander).
The arrest was carried out on September 30 in Mi Llanura neighborhood of Villavicencio (Meta), where a cell phone was seized.
