The Attorney General’s Office, through the so-called Estructura de Apoyo of the branch office in Boyacá (Support Structure Unit), prosecuted ten individuals allegedly linked to La Frontera organization which was involved in local drug trafficking in Ventaquemada (Boyacá).
A prosecutor showed that the criminal organization, which allegedly included five foreigners, was allegedly operating in the rural areas of Supatá, Puente Piedra, and Parroquia Vieja, and in the municipality of Ventaquemada (Boyacá).
The evidence collected with the support of the National Police determined that members of the criminal network sold illicit substances in public spaces such as soccer fields, the main park, the former bull ring, and schools.
The defendants were charged, according to their individual responsibilities, with conspiracy to commit a crime and drug trafficking, manufacturing, or possession of drugs. They did plead guilty to the charges.
After the consolidated hearings (audiencias concentradas) concluded, the judge sentenced eight defendants to prison while two will face criminal proceedings in freedom.
