Víctor Ortiz Ramos was sentenced to 16 years and 15 days in prison after admitting responsibility for the crimes of attempted femicide and manufacturing, trafficking, or possessing firearms, both aggravated offenses.
This decision comes after the defendant signed a preliminary agreement with the Attorney General’s Office, which was approved by the judge.
The events that led to the sentence took place on July 31, 2024, in a market located at Manuela Beltrán neighborhood of Bucaramanga (Santander). The defendant arrived that place and repeatedly shot a 30-year-old woman.
Ortiz Ramos fled the scene after committing the crime; but afterwards he was arrested by National Police. The firearm used in the attack was found in his possession. The victim was taken to a medical center where doctors saved him.
An appeal can be lodged against this decision.
