A prosecutor appointed to the branch office in Bolívar (Seccional Bolivar) prosecuted Andrés Felipe Barrios Martínez and Julio Enrique Escudero Benítez, who were allegedly involved in transporting ammunition and drugs.
For these facts, the Office of the Attorney General charged the defendants with manufacturing, trafficking, possession of restricted-use firearms, accessories, parts, or ammunition for the exclusive use of the Security Forces; manufacturing, trafficking, possession of firearms, accessories, parts, or ammunition; and trafficking, manufacturing, or possession of narcotics. They did not plead guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor’s Office stated that on May 30, both individuals were traveling on a motorcycle through the 5 de Octubre neighborhood in Turbaco, where they were stopped by the National Police for an inspection. 100 bags of marijuana, 14 cartridges for rifle and other 7 for handgun were found in their possession. None of them had permits.
At the request of the Prosecutor’s Office, a judge sentenced the defendants to prison.
