In separate incidents that occurred in the municipalities of Valle de San José and Piedecuesta in Santander, Judges ordered prison sentences against two people allegedly involved in the crime of domestic violence. The first incident occurred in Chiquinquirá neighborhood in Valle de San José on May 2, when, in the midst of an argument, Eduin Jesús Ruiz Parra allegedly attacked his partner with a sharp weapon, causing him serious injures. He also allegedly threatened him to death.
The second case took place in Hoyo Chiquito neighborhood in Piedecuesta. There, Humberto Salas Cala arrived at his former partner’s home to demand payment of interests on money he had lent her. The woman and her son, who were there, were locked inside the property and threatened with death with a knife.
In both cases, the defendants were arrested in fragrante by the National Police.
None pleaded guilty to the charges brought against them.
