At the request of a prosecutor appointed to the branch office in Risaralda (Seccional Risaralda), a judge in Pereira imposed a prison sentence on Laura Rodríguez Zapata. She was charged with trafficking, manufacturing, or possession of narcotics. She did not plead guilty.
The woman was arrested on March 12 at the international airport of Matecaña in Pereira, when she attempted to board a flight to Paris (France). Anti-Narcotics Police officers inspected her luggage and found two packages containing two kilos and 161 grams of cocaine. These were hidden in a false bottom of the suitcase.
