At the request of the Attorney General’s Office, three adults and two minors were prosecuted as alleged perpetrators of criminal conspiracy, aggravated theft, and the use of minors to commit these crimes. The defendants are believed to be part of a criminal network known as ‘Los Mexicanos’, who are accused of multiple motorcycle thefts in Guaviare and Casanare.
Dwan Estiven Malaver Valencia, alias Candelita; Edwin Santiago Trujillo Arango, alias Cali; and Manuel Alejandro Valencia Novoa, alias El Mexicano, the alleged leader of the illegal organization, would be part of the criminal network. Moreover, two minors, 14 and 16, were also used to commit these crimes.
The evidence determined that the illegal organization had defined internal roles to identify the vehicles that were going to be stolen, established who would drive them, and the people who would alert them about the presence of authorities.
The Office of the Attorney General has information that connects the defendants with at least 15 motorcycle thefts, in facts that occurred between November 17, 2023, and November 2024.
The defendants allegedly broke into a property in El Retorno (Guaviare), where they stole a motorcycle. Another similar incident occurred on November 18, 2024, in Aguazul (Casanare), where it is believed they entered a residential complex to steal a motorcycle. Similar acts were committed in Calamar and San José del Guaviare (Guaviare).
The National Police arrested the adults on March 17 and detained the minors in Villavicencio (Meta) and Calarcá (Quindío). At the request of the Prosecutor’s Office, a judge sent the defendants, depending on the case, to penitentiary facilities and specialized centers for minors.
