At the request of the Attorney General’s Office, a judge ordered a prison sentence against five individuals who allegedly participated in the murder of an elderly man on February 4th in Santana neighborhood in San Andrés.

The people involved in the case are brothers Jovier and Joiser Ramos Silgado, Luis Carlos Ramos, José Alberto Torres Ramos, and Celsy Janoy Fonseca Montoya. A prosecutor charged them with homicide and aggravated manufacturing, trafficking, possession of firearms, accessories, parts, or ammunition. They did not plead guilty to the charges.

According to the investigation, the defendants allegedly shot a 68-year-old man who was outside his house spending time with some family members, including a minor. The victim was assisted, but died while being taken to a medical center.

The defendants fled the scene on motorcycles, firing into the air at nearby residents to avoid their detention.

The National Police arrested Luis Carlos Ramos Silgado on Providencia island and Torres Ramos in El Cocal neighborhood in San Andrés by virtue of a court order. Meanwhile, the other defendants turned themselves in to the authorities.
