The Attorney General’s Office, through the branch office in Santander (Seccional Santander), prosecuted Hernán Alberto Proaños Morales and Ómar Hernán Flórez, as alleged people responsible for the crimes of terrorism; manufacturing, trafficking, possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition; manufacturing, trafficking and possession of weapons, ammunition for restricted use for the exclusive use of the Armed Forces or explosives and illegal use of uniforms and insignia.
According to the investigation, the defendants claimed to be members of the 33rd Front of FARC dissidents to intimidate the inhabitants of the municipality of La Paz (Santander) by wearing military clothing and carrying long-range firearms of the Armed Forces.
Both defendants were arrested on February 20 by Gaula of the National Police. At the moment of their arrest, the officers seized short and long-range weapons, military equipment, uniforms for the exclusive use of the public forces, aerosols, pamphlets referring to the 33rd Front of the FARC and 4 cell phones.
By virtue of a judicial order, the defendants must serve a prison sentence imposed by a judge.
