The victim was traveling on a stair bus and was approached by a group of armed men who murdered him.
The evidence collected by the Attorney General’s Office allowed the identification of those allegedly responsible for the murder of the peace signer Luis Aníbal Martínez, that took place on June 30, 2023, in La Balsita area, in Dabeiba (Antioquia).
The people involved are two alleged members of the so-called ‘Clan del Golfo’, identified as Mario Sucerquia Tuberquia, alias Verruga; and Jorge Otálvaro Ruíz Higuita, alias Marrano, who were charged with aggravated homicide; and manufacturing, trafficking, possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition by a prosecutor appointed to the Special Investigation Unit (Unidad Especial de Investigación UEI).
The investigation revealed that these people were part of the armed group that intercepted and got into a stair bus, asked the occupants to crouch down and shot the victim, causing his death.
It was also established that they belonged to the so-called Edwin Román Velázquez Valle front of the ‘Clan del Golfo’, which operates in the western area of Antioquia.
The defendants did not plead guilty to the charges that were brought by the Office of the Attorney General, and were sent to prison on the understanding that they remain deprived of liberty for other acts related to the offense of aggravated conspiracy to commit a crime.
