The drug was camouflaged in a lobster boat and was destined for Central America.

Members of the Technical Investigative Corps (CTI) of the Attorney General’s Office, and National Navy, obtained information about the departure of a boat that would be loaded with narcotics.

With that information, the Naval carried out an operation that allowed them to locate and intercept a lobster boat in the waters of Buenaventura (Valle del Cauca). During the inspection, the officers noticed that the crew members threw 76 sacks into the sea; while only two remained on the motor vessel.

The verifications revealed that the intention of this manoeuvre was to hide the contents, a little more than two tons of marijuana. With this discovery, the occupants were arrested in fragante delicto. A prosecutor from the Special Directorate against Drug Trafficking brought them before a judge and charged them with trafficking, manufacture or possession of drugs.

The defendants did not plead guilty to the charges and must serve a prison sentence. The people involved are: the Nicaraguan citizens Roberto Emsley Wilson and Jackson Thomas Hamsley Holhmes, and the Colombian citizen Jefferson Moreno Mosquera.

The investigations proved that the shipment that these people were transporting was destined for Central America.
