A prosecutor appointed to the Special Directorate against Criminal Organizations obtained a conviction against two members of the ‘Clan del Golfo’, for their participation in homicides and multiple criminal actions in Tolima.

These people were sentenced, according to their individual responsibilities, for aggravated criminal conspiracy, homicide and; manufacture, trafficking, possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition.

A specialized judge in Ibagué imposed an 11-year prison sentence against Anderson Smit Madrigal Liberato, alias Pollo Gigante, who was a member of the criminal group, and was accused of his direct participation in the murder of a man on June 20, 2016, in Ciudadela el Jardín de Lérida neighborhood in Tolima.

For her part, Kelly Yolani Cifuentes Arciniegas was sentenced to 5 years in prison for her participation in the criminal group. This woman, the sentimental partner of the ringleader known as Daniel or el Travieso, already convicted, carried out specific tasks, including collecting money from the sale of narcotics.

This criminal group which operated in Ibagué and other municipalities in the north area of Tolima, such as Lérida, Ambalema and Armero Guayabal, would be responsible for the commission of different homicides employing hitmen to settle accounts.

The decision became final.
