The arrested men would be part of Farc dissidents commanded by alias Iván Mordisco. The defendants would be responsible for illegal economic demands against businessmen, cattle breeders and transporters from Puerto Gaitán and Mapiripán (Meta).

The actions conducted by the Attorney General’s Office against extortion in Meta, allowed the prosecution of Wender Enrique Medina Varela and Anderson David Peláez Hernández who would be linked to illegal economic demands from businessmen, cattle breeders and transporters from Puerto Gaitán and Mapiripán.

The arrested men would be part of the FARC dissidents commanded by alias Iván Mordisco, and would be in charge of obtaining information from potential victims whom they would contact personally and by phone to threaten them with pamphlets and collect money in exchange for not attacking them and their families.

With the support of a Gaula group of the National Police, it was possible to arrest the defendants when they were receiving a large sum of money, presumably linked to the aforementioned extortion. The Office of the Attorney General charged them with conspiracy to commit crimes and aggravated extortion. They did not plead guilty to the charges.

In this way, the Office of the Attorney General restrains the criminal activity of the organized crime network against the inhabitants of sectors such as Alto Tillava, El Oasis, El Porvenir and Rubiales in the aforementioned municipalities, where the illegal armed group commits crimes.

At the request of the Office of the Attorney General, a judge imposed a prison sentence on them. This decision was made at the request of the Office of the Attorney General which considered both men a danger to the community.
