The defendant was arrested by National Army when he was driving a truck that was traveling on the road that connects the municipalities of Pitalito (Huila) and Mocoa (Putumayo).
At the request of a prosecutor assigned to the Sectional Office in Huila, a judge imposed a prison sentence against Alonso Rojas, 57 years old, allegedly responsible for transporting marijuana.
The defendant was arrested by National Army when he was driving a truck that was stopped for an inspection proceeding in a check point located in the rural area El Cedro, kilometer 5 on the road that connects the municipalities of Pitalito (Huila) and Mocoa (Putumayo).
The Office of the Attorney General determined that the defendant apparently intended to transport 400 kilos of the drug to the south area of the country. Therefore, the Office of the Attorney General charged him with trafficking, manufacture or possession of drugs. He did not plead guilty.
When examining the vehicle, the authorities found nine pieces of concrete hiding 200 plastic packages sealed with tape and containing drugs.
The evidence collected showed that the substance would be destined for the city of Mocoa and would be delivered to organizations that commit crimes in the south area of the country.
With this action, the Office of the Attorney General dealt a hard blow to criminal networks that commit crimes in the border area with Ecuador.
