The illicit substances were sold in Comuna 13 of Ibagué.

At the request of the Attorney General’s Office, a judge imposed a prison sentence against Yeison Alejandro Vargas Rincón, Jhon Fredy Tapiero Bocanegra and Juan Felipe Urueña González, alleged members of the criminal group Cancerbero.

The defendants would be responsible for conspiracy to commit crimes for drug trafficking purposes, use of minors to commit crimes and trafficking, manufacture or possession of narcotics. The illegal organization is accused of selling illicit substances at the so-called Comuna 13 in Ibagué (Tolima), especially in sectors such as La Unión, in the surroundings of three schools and the Miramar sports center since January of this year.

Under the coordination of a specialized prosecutor’s office of the Anti-Narcotics Unit, with support from the Sijin of the Metropolitan Police of Ibagué, four search and seizure operations were carried out in the Protecho, La Unión and Granada neighborhoods of the Tolima capital.

During the operations, substances such as marijuana and bazuco were seized; in addition to scales and elements for measuring doses and packaging. Information in the Office of the Attorney General’s hands showed that the criminal network apparently used minors to commit the crimes.

None of the defendants pleaded guilty to the charges.
