A judge imposed a prison sentence against Emidio Pérez García and John Jairo Castaño Betancourt, allegedly responsible for extorting a businessman in Pereira (Risaralda).
For these facts, a prosecutor appointed to the Sectional Office in Risaralda charged them with extortion. The work carried out by the Technical Investigative Corps (CTI) and Gaula of the National Police allowed to establish that during this year, from March to October, the defendants had approached the victim several times and asked him for a large sum of money in exchange for not attempting against his life and that of his family.
The evidence shows that the men apparently impersonated members of an illegal armed group to intimidate him.
Pérez García and Castaño Betancourt were arrested on October 5 in a public street of the so-called Kennedy neighborhood in Pereira.
