Alias Mario and Hovard would be responsible for at least nine criminal events.
At the request of the Attorney General’s Office, a judge sent two alleged members of the criminal group Los Espartanos to prison. The defendants would be involved in extortion of owners of fish stores in Buenaventura (Valle del Cauca).
The people allegedly involved are Carlos Mario Bermúdez Gamboa, alias Mario; and Hovard Damián Cabezas Luna, alias Hovard, who were charged with conspiracy to commit crimes for the purpose of extortion.
According to the investigation that was carried out for seven months by a specialized prosecutor in Buenaventura, the suspects conspired since last January so that the owners of fish stores located in Pueblo Nuevo and San José neighborhoods would pay monthly fees of up to two million pesos, to avoid being victims of attacks.
According to the investigation, the trafficking, distribution and sale of narcotics in this area would be headed by alias Mario. For his part, Cabezas Luna was allegedly responsible for sending some threatening pamphlets to the victims so that they would pay him the aforementioned amounts.
The defendants were arrested by Sijin and the Special Operations Group (GOES in Spanish) of the National Police in two simultaneous operations that were carried out in sectors of Pueblo Nuevo.
They must serve a prison sentence in Buga (Valle del Cauca) by virtue of a judicial decision.
