At the request of the Attorney General’s Office, a judge imposed a preventive detention measures against those allegedly responsible for the crime of aggravated kidnapping for extortion purposes of 13 gardeners of the Mayor’s Office of Medellín.
John Jairo Pernía Bailarín, Jader Santiago Martínez Henao, Charly Andrés García Correa and Wilmar Andrés Jiménez Leudo, were sent to prison. Nelson Urán Montoya, for his part, must serve house arrest due to his intellectual and mental disability.
The facts under investigation took place place on September 11 in a field located in Robledo Villa Sofía neighborhood where, apparently, the 13 victims were approached by several men who intimidated them in an attempt to find out information about one of their colleagues.
The alleged perpetrators had demanded a payment of 2,000,000 from the kidnapped victims or information about their colleague. During the illegal detention, the people were forced to turn their cell phones off and were subjected to pressure.
Officers from Gaula of National Police arrested in flagrante delicto the alleged kidnappers and freed the victims. None of the defendants pleaded guilty to the charges brought by a prosecutor assigned to Gaula in Medellín.
