At the request of a specialized prosecutor appointed to the Sectional Office in Huila Section, a judge imposed a prison sentence against ‘Los Marquetalios’, allegedly responsible for burning inter-municipal transport vehicles between October and December 2023 in Huila.
Among the people that were brought to justice are: Jhon Eber Triviño, Liliani José Malavé Vásquez and Jhon Jaiber Correa Lemos, who were charged, according to their individual responsibilities, with aggravated extortion and conspiracy to commit crimes for extortion and terrorism purposes.
According to the investigation, since October 26, 2023, the defendants were threatening bus owners from a company that operates the routes to Caquetá, Putumayo and Huila, through extortion calls. The victims had to pay between 10 and 60 million COP, in exchange for not burning the vehicles.
The people arrested by Gaula of the National Police, apparently, intimidated passengers and drivers who traveled on route 45 between the municipalities of Altamira, Garzón and Acevedo. During the actions, the victims were forced to get out of the cars, which were then burned, due to the victim’s refusal.
These people were arrested in different areas of Valle del Cauca, Tolima and Bogotá by Gaula of the National Police. None of them pleaded guilty to the charges brought by the Office of the Attorney General.
