The evidence presented by a prosecutor appointed to the Sectional Office in Caquetá allowed a judge to sentence Carlos Mario Tafur Vivas to 33 years in prison for the crime of aggravated homicide of two people last January.
The sentence was achieved after a preliminary agreement was reached between the Attorney General’s Office, the defendant and his defense that was approved on September 4th by a court in Caquetá municipality of Puerto Rico.
The facts took place on January 26 in sector of San Vicente del Caguán, in which two men were killed with a firearm. After committing the crime, the perpetrator fled the scene.
Shortly after, the attacker was arrested in the so-called Hernández neighborhood in possession of a 38 caliber revolver with six spent cartridges and 12 more, unspent. Investigations showed that the man was fleeing the crime scene. It was also evident that Tafur Vivas was the one who received orders to kill the victims.
After his arrest on January 28, the perpetrator was sent to El Cunduy prison in Florencia, where he will serve a sentence.
