The Attorney General’s Office brought two people before a judge who, extorted a merchant in Cúcuta (Norte de Santander) since last August 17th. The Office of the Attorney General showed that the men allegedly asked for the payment of 1 million COP per month in exchange for not making an attempt on his life and his business.

The people involved are Gustavo Antonio Barrios Sánchez, alias Sicario, and Keivi Alexánder Domínguez Canelo, alias Barbas, alleged members of the AK-47 criminal group, who were charged with aggravated extortion and attempted homicide.

According to the investigations, both men allegedly participated in an armed attack against the merchant’s employees on August 21st. None was injured. 

Once the victim informed Gaula of National Police about the case, the delivery of the money was coordinated in a controlled manner. The procedure allowed the defendants to be arrested on August 27th.

The defendants did not plead guilty to the charges and were sent to Modelo prison in Cúcuta.
