The evidence provided by a prosecutor belonging to the Immediate Reaction Unit-URI (Unidad de Reacción Inmediata) of the Sectional Office in Risaralda was approved by a judge when a prison sentence was issued against Héctor Caicedo Bedoya and Carlos Hugo Mejía Zuluaga. They are alleged responsible for attempting against a merchant’s life in Pereira (Risaralda).

The facts occurred on August 3 in the El Poblado II neighborhood in Risaralda.

The businessman and contractor of a municipal mayor’s office in Risaralda was inside his vehicle when Caicedo Bedoya, apparently, approached him and repeatedly shot him with a firearm. 

The victim avoided the projectiles and then Caicedo allegedly fled on a motorcycle that was waiting for him at the scene and that was allegedly driven by Mejía Zuluaga.

The Prosecutor’s Office charged both with attempted homicide and aggravated manufacture, trafficking and possession of firearms or ammunition. They did not plead guilty to the charges.
