Under the coordination of a specialized prosecutor of the Sectional Office in Caquetá, the support of the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI) and the National Police, five alleged members of Los Patacones were arrested. They are allegedly involved in the sale of cocaine in the Malvinas, San Luis, Amazonia and Idema neighborhoods in Florencia.
According to the investigation, the criminal network used motorcycles to sell narcotics through home delivery. The information obtained by the Office of the Attorney General revealed that the coca base was obtained in municipalities of the south area of the Department such as San José del Fragua and Puerto Guzmán (Putumayo).
Edgar Tafur Bermeo, alias Águila, the alleged leader of the criminal organization, and four alleged drug dealers were arrested during search warrants carried out in neighborhoods such as: La Consolata, El Jardín, Brisas del Dedo and 7 de Agosto.
The Prosecutor’s Office charged the defendants, according to their alleged individual responsibilities, with aggravated conspiracy to commit crimes and trafficking, manufacture or drug possession. They did not plead guilty to the charges.
A judge in Florencia imposed a prison sentence on Tafur Bermeo and house arrest on Gladys Elena Daza Lozano, alias La Mona, Rodrigo Ortiz Ortiz, alias El Mocho and Álvaro Toledo Silva. A fifth person must appear before court.
In the last two years, the Prosecutor’s Office has prosecuted seven people and seized different quantities of cocaine as part of its actions against this criminal structure.
