The victim worked as a peace counselor and official at the Secretariat of Government in Lorica and was an activist for the LGBTIQ+ population.

A prosecutor belonging to the so-called Unidad Especial de Investigación – UEI (Special Investigation Unit)  prosecuted Carlos Andrés Moncayo Gómez, who would be involved in the murder of the social leader, Deivis Enrique Junco Hernández.

The crime took place on March 5 in sector Loma de Piedra, in Nueva Granada neighborhood in Lorica (Córdoba). The victim’s corpse was found a day after the facts.

According to the investigation, Moncayo Gómez strangled the social leader to steal his motorcycle and a cell phone valued at more than 10 million COP.

The victim worked as a peace counselor and official at the Government Secretariat in Lorica, and was an activist of the LGBTIQ+ population.

The defendant was arrested by Sijín and Dijín- National Police in Lorica (Córdoba). The Office of the Attorney General charged Moncayo Gómez with aggravated homicide and qualified robbery. He did not plead guilty to the charges.

A prison sentence was imposed by a judge.
