Timyu Alex Yau Nube will serve a sentence of 17 years and one month in prison for the crime of homicide that occurred in October 2016 on public road of San José del Guaviare (Guaviare).
After assessing the evidence presented by a specialized prosecutor in Guaviare, a judge determined the responsibility of the 35-year-old man, who belongs to the Nukak Maku indigenous community, in which a senior citizen died.
That night, the surveillance police assisted citizens who made reference to two men that were fighting. When they arrived at the scene, they witnessed when the convicted man injured the victim with a sharp object, and therefore he instantly died.
Although Yau Nube fled the scene, he was arrested in flagrante delicto near the scene by the officers.
The court denied alternative penalties of conditional suspension of sentence and house arrest.
The sentence became final.
