The defendants would be demanding money from transporters, cattle breeders and merchants so that they could continue with their work.

At the request of the Attorney General’s Office, a judge imposed a prison sentence against four alleged members of ‘Clan del Golfo’ who would be involved in extortion cases in Córdoba.

The decision concerns Walberto Galvis Rojas, Amado Segundo Arrieta, Luis Urango Ortega and Luis Vega Monterroza, allegedly involved in extortion of cattle breeders, transporters, merchants and builders in Montería. These actions allegedly took place since August 2022 in different areas of Córdoba.

The National Police arrested the defendants on July 2nd within the framework of operations carried out in Montería and Bogotá. A prosecutor of the Sectional Office in Córdoba charged the alleged perpetrators with aggravated criminal conspiracy and extortion.
