A prosecutor belonging to the Sectional Office in Bolívar prosecuted William Alcides Areiza Muñetón, alias Daniel or Mecánico, for his alleged participation in a homicide that occurred in 2023, when he allegedly coordinated Nicolás Antonio Urango Reyes substructure of the ‘Clan del Golfo’ in Mahates and Calamar area.
According to the investigation, on March 6, 2023, the corpse of a 46-year-old man with gunshot wounds was found on the road that leads from Gamero to the municipality of Mahates (Bolívar).
The investigation showed that the defendant, 39 years old, was committing crimes in that sector and would be responsible for the crime. His arrest was carried out by the National Police in Cartagena.
The prosecutor in the case charged him with aggravated homicide and manufacturing, trafficking or possession of weapons. He did not plead guilty to the charges
Areiza Muñetón has criminal records for criminal conspiracy; manufacturing, trafficking or possession of a firearm for the exclusive use of the Armed Forces; extortion and manufacturing, trafficking or possession of narcotics, among others.
His confinement will take place in San Sebastián Ternera prison in Cartagena by virtue of a judicial order.
