The Attorney General’s Office prosecuted Ever Rafael Méndez Maldonado, alias Moto Chino, an alleged member of the Nicolás Urango Reyes substructure of the ‘Clan del Golfo’ who committed crimes in several municipalities of Bolívar.
Apparently, the defendant allegedly extorted merchants, cattle breeders, and transporters from the municipalities of El Carmen de Bolívar, San Jacinto, San Juan de Nepomuceno and Zambrano (Bolívar) since August 2022. The victims were threatened with death as well as their families, if they did not comply with the economic demands.
According to information in the hands of the Prosecutor’s Office, ‘Moto Chino’, showed up at commercial premises where he told the victims that they had to initially pay between 1 and 30 million COP pesos, and then they had to continue paying monthly from 300 to 500 thousand COP. The payment answered to the type of business.
The person involved was arrested by the National Police in the municipality of Zambrano (Bolívar) and was charged with conspiracy and extortion, both aggravated. He did not plead guilty to the charges.
The judge imposed a prison sentence.
Due to these same facts, other eight people are deprived of their liberty in prisons.
