The Attorney General’s Office, in coordination with the National Police, arrested a woman and three men who were part of the organized criminal group Los Pelusos, responsible for extorting businessmen in the Catatumbo region.

People that were involved are: Jesús Alberto García, Luis Antonio León, Alexia Vanessa Quintana and Adolfo Gómez Ramírez. According to the investigation, since May 7th, several businessmen in Ocaña (Norte de Santander) were intimidated through text messages.

The person who sent the texts identified himself as commander Darwin belonging to EPL and demanded the payment of 1 million COP for each of the 12 vehicles in which propane gas pipettes were sold in the municipalities of El Tarra, Teorama, San Calixto, Abrego and Hacarí.

The arrest warrants were carried out on May 10 in a procedure of controlled delivery, which was coordinated by the Gaula- National Police.

Custodial measures were issued against the defendants.
