The Attorney General’s Office prosecuted Ricardo Ortega Villamizar, alias El Viejo, for his alleged responsibility in drug trafficking. According to the investigation, the illegal substances were stored in Cúcuta (Norte de Santander) and then they were sent to European countries.
The defendant was arrested on May 2 during a search warrant carried out in a house at Ceiba II neighborhood. These actions were deployed in the development of a joint work between Technical Investigative Corps (CTI), Police and Army.
Judicial police work proved that the illegal substances were transported in vehicles equipped with compartments in which the narcotics were hidden and then sent to Europe by air.
More than 9 kilos of cocaine hydrochloride valued at nearly 50 million COP were found in the possession of the defendant. In Europe the value would reach the equivalent to 700 million COP.
A prosecutor from the sectional Office in Santander charged alias El Viejo with trafficking, manufacturing or possession of narcotics. He did not plead guilty to the charges.
A judge imposed a prison sentence.
