After accepting the request made by the Attorney General’s Office and approving a pre-agreement, a judge sentenced José Alberto Contreras Díaz, to 19 years, 1 month and 6 days in prison, for the crime of aggravated homicide in consistent sequence of serial crime and rebellion.
The evidence collected by the Prosecutor’s Office made it possible to establish the responsibility of the person sentenced for the facts that took place on August 25, 2020 in the rural area of Capitán Largo, municipality of Abrego (Norte de Santander), where three merchants known as Wilmar Carreño, Gabriel Balmaceda and John Ángel Contreras Gil were attacked with firearms.
After the investigative work carried out by the judicial police, in coordination with a prosecutor from the Sectional Office in Santander, Contreras Díaz was arrested on December 21, 2020 at the Ocaña Police Department (Norte de Santander) where he was under custody for another investigative process.
The defendant will continue in a prison until the sentence is served.
