At the request of the Attorney General’s Office, a judge imposed a prison sentence on Breiner Josué Castro Vélez, alias Mono Cachete, allegedly involved in a double homicide perpetrated in Barranquilla (Atlántico).
The facts occurred on May 30, in the Carrizal neighborhood when the man that was arrested shot two people after he got off a motorcycle causing their death. After the incident, he fled in the car.
According to the investigation carried out by a prosecutor of the so-called Unidad de Vida of the Sectional Office in Atlantico, Castro Vélez would be part of the illegal armed group Los Costeños, in which he had the role of hitman.
Due to these facts, the Prosecutor´s Office charged the defendant with aggravated homicide in consistent sequence of serial crime and aggravated manufacture, trafficking, or possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition. He did not plead guilty.
