At the request of the Attorney General’s Office, a judge deprived Elver Chávez Araujo and Heinar De Jesús Ojeda Araujo of their freedom, as alleged perpetrators of the murder of a councilor from the municipality of Taminango (Nariño), which occurred last September 9.

The facts took place in the Municipal Council where the victim was signing some documents and was surprised by a man who arrived on a motorcycle in the company of another person and attacked him with a weapon causing his death.

National Police officers arrested the defendants in flagrante delicto when they were trying to flee from the crime scene. The authorities seized a motorcycle, two cell phones and four cartridges (38 caliber).

Subsequently, the Prosecutor’s Office charged them with aggravated homicide and manufacturing, trafficking or possession of firearms or ammunition.

The judge decided that those currently being prosecuted, who did not plead guilty to the charges, must comply with a sentence in prison.
