At the request of a prosecutor from the Special Investigation Unit (Unidad Especial de Investigación UEI), a judge imposed a prison sentence on Andrés Mauricio Coba Silvera, for his alleged responsibility in the crime of the community leader Rodolfo José García Sierra .
On February 20, in the La Esperanza neighborhood, in Baranoa (Atlántico), the victim was going to enter his home and was approached by Coba Silvera, who tried to steal his belongings and finally attacked him with a sharp weapon.
The community leader and vice president of the communal action committee of the La Esperanza neighborhood was taken to a medical center but he died 22 days later due to the seriousness of his injuries.
For these facts, Andrés Mauricio Coba Silvera was arrested in a joint action with the National Police on public roads in Baranoa. The Prosecutor’s Office charged him with aggravated homicide, and aggravated robbery.
