At the request of the Office of the Attorney General, a judge imposed a prison sentence on Jorge Luis Hernández Díaz, 47, for allegedly having attacked a member of the LGTBIQ+ community with a sharp weapon .

According to the investigation, on February 11 of this year in the urban area of the municipality of Aguachica (Cesar), the defendant  allegedly attacked the 42-year-old victim in the head with a machete, apparently due to his sexual orientation.

The attack allegedly occurred when the victim was unarmed. It was also established that days before, the defendant had verbally attacked the victim in an apparent act of homophobia.

Hernández Días was arrested by CTI officers of the Prosecutor’s Office and the National Police, and charged with attempted aggravated homicide.
